Dang, that plague sure was a bummer, amIright? Considering our current pandemic, I can't imagine what it was like to live during the Black Death. People were dying in the streets, fluids oozing from various orifices, smelling putrid even before death. Packed together in crowded urban areas, it had to be Hell on earth. The "doctors" were just men dressed head to toe in suits designed to (hopefully) protect them as they walked through sick houses and camps with their walking sticks, probing patients without touching them. Even though the entire doctor's outfit took as much care as possible to keep the foul miasmas out of the suit, the two holes in the mask that allowed the doctors to breathe still let in the air that carried the virus. Therefore, the plague doctors probably didn't save anyone, but they made a hell of an impression on history.
